This week the Post examined the decades-long dispute over rent control between the residents of DC’s Dorchester House and the building’s owner. The situation highlights the controversy that has been surrounding rent control for years, with an increasing number of owners now believing that “the way the D.C. laws are, it really doesn’t pay to be involved in rent-control housing.”
With the Rental Housing Act of 1985 facing expiry soon, the DC Council is considering making the city’s rent control laws permanent–so we’ll be checking back on the situation regularly.
