Columbia Heights

Surburban Conveniences with Urban Treasures

Originally developed as a suburb of downtown DC, Columbia Heights is a thriving multinational neighborhood located on the 14th and 16th Street corridors within the Northwest quadrant of the District. Situated on a hilltop, its breathtaking views of the city are unparalleled.

Over the last 15 years, though public/private partnerships, Columbia Heights has transformed from a neglected section of DC into a desired place to live, walk and play. The recent influx of big box retailers and entertainment options make it one of most bustling places in the city. Long-time urban charms such as ethnic restaurants, family-run bakeries and eclectic bars remain throughout this burgeoning neighborhood.

Columbia Heights is home to a number of exciting cultural institutions such as the Mexican Cultural Institute, GALA Hispanic Theater, the Dance Institute of Washington, and the Greater Washington Urban League.

The neighborhood lies in between Piney Branch Park (a portion of Rock Creek Park) to the north and the beautiful Meridian Hill Park to the south.

New luxury apartments with amazing panoramic views of DC mix with refurnished apartment gems of yesteryear, with row homes nestled in between 14th and 16th Streets.

A walker’s paradise, very bikeable and a mecca for all transportation, Columbia Heights is serviced by its own Metro station for the Yellow and Green lines.  Metro buses run north and south along 14th and 16th Streets and the Circulator bus runs east and west throughout the city.
